      About Old Ottawa South

      • Is an older urban neighborhood in Capital ward area of Ottawa. Compared to other spotlight neighbourhoods in Ottawa it is relatively small and compact located between the Rideau River and the Rideau Canal.

      Neighbourhood Demographic 

      • Old Ottawa South is considered an upper middle class area. This neighbourhood runs along side Carleton University meaning there’s is a mix of professionals and students. With that being said the housing market in this area has been raising in price and drive the students to other neighbourhoods.

      Transit / Parking

      • There are two main bus routes in Old Ottawa south the #7 and #1. These are great routes that take you right to the south end of the city all the way downtown and even to Carleton University. These busses come every 15 minutes in peak hours.


      Amenities

      • This area of Ottawa runs along a portion of Bank st. that provides residences with several bars/ restaurants, and fun activities for the family such as the Mayfair Theatre and a quick walk over the Canal to Lansdowne. There are two great places for grocery shopping, Whole Foods Market in Lansdowne and Billings Bridge which has both an Independent and a Walmart. For your pharmacy related needs there is a larger Shoppers Drug Mart on Bank St. and a Rexall Pharma Plus in Billings Bridge. As for activities for kids, dogs or yourself you can check out Brewer Park with big play set, baseball diamonds and skating rink in the winter along with Windsor Park and Brighton Beach park. Additional recreational activities can be found within the Old Ottawa South Community Association.


      Schools

      • If you are looking for a place to send your young ones Old Ottawa South has Glebe Parents Daycare, Capital Daycare Center, Astolot Educational Center a an independent Day School and High School. For elementary schools you can check out the Hopewell Public School and Westboro Academy.
